Chris Haring
Studied music and rhythmic at the University of Music in Vienna, further studies in New York. Worked with DV8 (Lloyd Newson), Pilottanzt, Nikolais/Luis Dance Cie., Nigel Charnock, Tanz*Hotel, Willi Dorner, and others. He performed in Europe, U.S.A., South America, Japan. Since 1993 he concentrates on choreographic works. The collaboration with Klaus Obermaier started in 1998 when they directed the Leonardo-Project Vienna/Berlin.

Klaus Obermaier
Studied guitar at the University of Music in Vienna and painting at the Kunsthochschule Linz. He worked with Kronos Quartet, Ensemble Modern, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Ornette Coleman, John Scofield, Peter Erskine, Heiner Goebbels, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, dance companies the Nederlands Dans Theaters, Tanz*Hotel. Commissioned works for festivals Ars electronica, Diagonale, Musikfest Bremen, JazzYatra/Bombay, Hörgänge/Konzerthaus Wien, Kenkeleba House NYC, Leonardo-Project Vienna/Berlin, Linzer Klangwolke 98, etc.

...is playing with real and virtual situations and with the dissolution of limits between these two conditions.
...is confronting archaic instincts with the high technology world of the information and communication society.
...is going through genetic transformations, amputations, manipulations.
...is morphing between nightmare, deliverance, and transformation until reaching the desintegration of the physical body.
...is a perfect symbiosis of a video projection and a human body.

Performances, 11 - 19 May 2001

  • during 10 days 8 domestic and 6 foreign companies of contemporary dance will be presented in Theatres Aréna a Stoka
  • the aim of dramaturgy is to present the most recent creative achievements of selected representatives of contemporary dance from Europe and to show related results by the top domestic creators, to offer by that a simultaneous review of results in this field to domestic public and critics
  • foreign participants in the festival: Cie Felix Ruckert (Germany), Chris Haring (Austria), Cie Eszter Gál (Hungary), Cie Akram Khan (Great Britain), Granhoj Dans (Danmark), Kristýna Lhotáková (Czech republic)
  • Slovak representatives: Katarína Mojžišová, Lucia Holinová, Tomáš Danielis, Petra Fornayová, Peter Groll, A dato, TS Artyci, Štúdio tanca - Banská Bystrica

All the performances will be followed by public discussions between audience and artists.
